FIFA Panel Bans Two Congolese Soccer Officials, Fines Spaniard

Soccer’s governing body banned two Congolese soccer officials for six months and fined the head of the Spanish Football Association for ethics violations.

FIFA’s ethics committee suspended Jean Guy Blaise Mayolas, vice president of the Congolese association, and Badji Mombo Wantete, its general secretary, for violations involving the offering and acceptance of gifts. Angel Maria Villar Llona, a FIFA vice president and head of the Spanish organization, got a warning and a 25,000 Swiss franc ($25,000) fine for not cooperating with a probe into the award of hosting rights to the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
