Publisher of Slain Atheist Writer Stabbed in Bangladesh: Police

Unidentified assailants in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka stabbed Ahmedur Rashid Tutul, publisher of slain atheist writer Avijit Roy, and two other bloggers, according to a local police official.

The three persons have been taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment, inspector Mozammel Hoque said by phone. Two of them are suffering from “serious head injuries,” he said, without giving any further details.

Roy was hacked to death in Dhaka on Feb. 26 and his wife was critically wounded in a machete attack. The science writer, a U.S. citizen of Bangladeshi origin, was known for his writings against religious extremism.
