Guinean President Conde Wins 26 Districts, Diallo 12 in Election

President Alpha Conde won 26 of the West African nation’s 38 districts in a presidential election, according to results from the electoral commission.

Conde, 77, received 2.29 million votes compared with 1.24 million for Cellou Dalein Diallo, who leads the Union of Republican Forces party. Bakary Fofana, president of the commission, gave reporters in the capital, Conakry, results of the final two districts on Saturday.

The electoral commission is expected to announce the outcome of the Oct. 11 vote later today.
