Buffett Says U.S. Housing Picking Up, Citing Furniture Gains

Warren Buffett, who oversees more than 80 businesses as chief executive officer of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., said a rebound in the residential real estate market is helping sustain growth in the U.S. economy.

“Housing is picking up, our furniture stores are running at good gains,” as is the carpet business, Buffett said Tuesday at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit in Washington. “Brick has picked up somewhat, but it’s still slow.”
