Japan Plans to Use Lottery Cash for Olympics: Tokyo Paper

Japan’s municipal governments will spend part of the revenue from sales of lottery tickets to help fund construction of facilities for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the Tokyo newspaper reported on Saturday without saying where it got the information.

About 10 billion yen ($83 million) from lottery takings in the five years through fiscal 2020 is expected to be spent on building Olympic facilities, according to Tokyo paper. About 6 billion yen of lottery revenue will be used to help fund the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, the newspaper reported.
