RBC Hires LaSalle’s Brinkmann for Real Estate Lending in Europe

Royal Bank of Canada hired Axel Brinkmann from LaSalle Investment Management to head commercial real estate lending in Europe.

Brinkmann joined RBC Real Estate Capital Partners as a managing director in London, the Toronto-based bank said Thursday in an e-mailed statement. Brinkmann, 38, succeeds Kathryn Ogden, who returned to the group’s headquarters in Dallas to help oversee an expansion of the business.

Brinkmann was in charge of structured debt and equity originations in the U.K. and Europe for LaSalle’s special situations group, according to the statement. He previously worked for Wells Fargo & Co.’s real estate structured finance team in Frankfurt and London.

RBC Real Estate Capital Partners, a unit of RBC Capital Markets, provides mortgage and mezzanine loans to customers and sponsors around the world. The business has been involved in more than $16 billion of loan originations since 2013, with more than half by the London team, Royal Bank said.
