Mutanda Mining Co., a joint venture between Glencore Plc and billionaire Dan Gertler’s Fleurette Group, will maintain copper and cobalt output in the Democratic Republic of Congo this year, a board member said.
The company is unaffected by Glencore’s decision this week to suspend production at Katanga Mining Ltd. for 18 months, Pieter Deboutte said in a phone interview Wednesday from the capital, Kinshasa. Glencore plans to use the shutdown to build new processing facilities at Katanga Mining that will lower output costs, it said Monday.
