Refugees Brave Stun Grenades to Cross Greek-Macedonian Border

About 1,500 refugees forced their way across the border between Greece and the Republic of Macedonia, overwhelming police who unsuccessfully tried to push them back with batons and stun grenades.

The crowd of migrants thronging the former Yugoslav republic’s southern border, many fleeing the conflict in Syria, grew from more than 3,000 on Friday, said Alexandra Krause, an official with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
