Vancouver Voters Reject New Transit Tax in Referendum

Voters in metropolitan Vancouver have rejected a proposed sales tax to help fund C$7.5 billion ($6 billion) of public transit upgrades and expansions.

The proposal for a 0.5 percent sales tax in the Vancouver region was rejected with 62 percent of valid votes against it, Elections BC said today on its website.
