Chad Raises Death Toll From Suicide Bombings in Capital to 34

Chad said 34 people were killed and 105 injured in suicide bombings in the capital, N’Djamena, earlier this week, revising upward a previous toll.

Nigerian Islamist group Boko Haram was responsible for the dual-bombings that struck police facilities on June 15, with the majority of casualties being police cadets, Interior Minister Abderahim Bireme Hamid said Friday on national radio.

Chad’s army on Thursday said it had struck six bases in neighboring Nigeria used by Boko Haram in response. Chad is part of a multinational force fighting the militants in the region and says it has killed hundreds of them since January.
