McDonald’s Advertises $2.50 Summer Deals as Turnaround Drags

McDonald’s Corp. on Tuesday started offering a double cheeseburger and fries for $2.50, an attempt to revive sales in an increasingly competitive fast-food market.

The U.S. promotion, which runs through the summer, is one of the first specials to be advertised nationally since Steve Easterbrook became the company’s chief executive officer in March. Some of the chain’s restaurants in New York, Houston and Orlando, Florida, also are advertising a “Summer Break Menu” with options such as fish sandwiches or snack wraps paired with a small french fries for $2.50, said Lisa McComb, a spokeswoman.
