Robot Taxis Might Be Driving Olympic Athletes Around Tokyo in 2020

Updated on

Rise from your bed in the Olympic Village, hop into an empty robot taxi, indicate the stadium of choice and sit back: DeNA Co.’s self-driving cabs will navigate the streets of Tokyo to your destination.

That’s the vision put forth by the Japanese social media and gaming company, which has become the latest technology firm to join the race to develop autonomous vehicles. DeNA and its partner ZMP Inc. aim to offer a driverless car by 2020, the same year that Tokyo will host the summer Olympic Games.
