Dominion Buys 20-Megawatt Solar Farm in Georgia From HelioSageJustin Doom
Dominion Resources Inc., the third-largest U.S. utility owner, bought a 20-megawatt solar farm in Georgia from HelioSage Energy LLC for an undisclosed sum.
The Richland Solar Center in Twiggs County is expected to begin generating electricity this year, Richmond, Virginia-based Dominion said Wednesday in a statement. Southern Co.’s Georgia Power utility unit has agreed to buy the power plant’s output under a 20-year contract.
Dominion now has 364 megawatts of solar capacity in operation or under construction, and the company expects to have 625 megawatts in service by the end of 2016.
Duke Energy Corp. and NextEra Energy Inc. are the largest U.S. utility owners by market value.
