Notre Dame, South Carolina Advance to NCAA Women Final 8

Notre Dame and South Carolina advanced to the finals of their regionals at the national women’s college basketball tournament with victories as No. 1 seeds.

Notre Dame beat No. 4 Stanford 81-60 in Oklahoma City on Friday to reach the final eight. The Irish (34-2) next face second-seeded Baylor (33-3), which defeated No. 3 Iowa 81-66.

South Carolina held on for a 67-65 victory against fourth-seeded North Carolina in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Gamecocks improved to 33-2 and moved on to play No. 2 regional seed Florida State (32-4), which beat No. 3 Arizona State 66-65.

The other two No. 1 regional seeds, Connecticut and Maryland, will seek spots in the final eight on Saturday.
