Nigeria’s President Jonathan Says May Be Delays in Voting

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan said there may be some delays to voting in presidential and parliamentary elections on Saturday due to technical problems with biometric voter cards.

“There may be hitches because this if the first time we’re using the cards,” Jonathan said in an interview with Channels Television after voting in his home state of Bayelsa in the south. “I had problems with my accreditation. As long as nationally the process is going on well, its ok.”

Jonathan and his ruling People’s Democratic Party, is facing a united opposition lead by former military ruler Muhammadu Buhari, in the tightest contest of the PDP’s reign since the military relinshed power in 1999.
