Premier League Teams Post First Pretax Profit Since 1999

Updated on

Premier League soccer clubs reported a combined pretax profit for the first time since 1999 on surging broadcast income, Deloitte LLP said.

The report came out on the same day fans rallied in London calling for teams to cut ticket prices. The league last month sold TV rights to Sky Plc and BT Group Plc for a record 5.14 billion pounds ($7.7 billion) for the three-year period starting in 2016, a 70 percent increase.
