To start, there were big rallies across the board today. Stocks, oil, the euro all rallied to end the week on an nice run.
New research by Tom Porcelli, chief U.S. economist at RBC Capital Markets LLC, finds that wages and consumer spending in the U.S. have never been more closely linked. People are only spending what they earn, and have shied away from risky credit purchases. If the U.S. is going to jump start its economy, it needs to come from higher wages.
And finally, earlier today all anyone could talk about was the solar eclipse in the Eastern Hemisphere. In addition to some pretty pictures, it also briefly brought a halt to the solar energy production in Germany.
