Polish Banks Propose Funds for Swiss Franc Mortgage Holders

Updated on

Polish banks offered to set up two funds to help mortgage holders after the Swiss-franc’s surge boosted debt repayments for middle-class voters months before elections.

Eleven banks, including PKO Bank Polski SA, MBank SA and Getin Noble Bank SA, propose creating one fund to help offset the franc appreciation and a second for all mortgage borrowers who can’t repay debt due to unforeseen events such as loss of a job, Krzysztof Pietraszkiewicz, head of the Polish Banking Association, said Wednesday.
