Letter Shows Fed Watchdog Probed 2012 FOMC Policy Leak

Updated on

The Federal Reserve’s inspector general investigated a 2012 leak of confidential information about the central bank’s secretive monetary-policy debate, according to a letter from the watchdog obtained by Bloomberg News on Tuesday.

Bloomberg News previously reported that potentially market-moving inside details of the Federal Open Market Committee’s September 2012 meeting were published by Medley Global Advisors in a report to clients on Oct. 3 that year, one day before the Fed released minutes of the gathering. Lawmakers, including Senate Democrat Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, are pushing the Fed for more information.
