GoPros are hip, mounting GoPros on inanimate objects is hip, and the New York Times certainly strives to be hip, so theTimes mounted a GoPro on an umbrella yesterday to capture what was, we can only pray, the last big East Coast snow storm of the season. The result, which takes us on a journey from the frozen streets of Park Slope to the frozen-er Brooklyn Bridge, is actually pretty soothing. Check it out:
But there is a much bigger story here, bigger than GoPro trends or that snow storm or maybe even the New York Times. For in mounting that camera on an umbrella, the Grey Lady has (inadvertently?) endorsed the controversial use of the snow umbrella, a subject which has divided at least two East Coast cities for the better part of a year.
