Manchester United, Newcastle Players Charged Over SpittingSara Marley
Newcastle United’s Papiss Cisse and Manchester United’s Jonny Evans have been charged by England’s Football Association for spitting on each other during a match yesterday.
The soccer players have until 6 p.m. tomorrow to respond to the charge, the FA said in a statement on its website.
The incidents, which weren’t seen by the match officials but caught on video, occurred in the 38th minute of the Premier League game won 1-0 by Manchester United.
A three-person panel of former elite referees reviewed the footage independently of each other and found unanimously it was a sending-off offense.
