Metro-North Railroad in 2014 had its worst on-time performance in 26 years as foul weather, a building explosion in Harlem and safety upgrades slowed the commuter-rail system that serves New York’s northern suburbs.
About 91.5 percent of Metro-North trains reached their destination within five minutes and 59 seconds of the scheduled arrival time, according to documents posted Friday on the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s website. That’s down from 94.8 percent in 2013 and was the lowest since 1988, when about 89 percent were on time.
