The euro gained after a report indicated that Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’s government may ask for a loan extension as soon as Wednesday.
The 19-nation shared currency climbed earlier against the dollar even as hopes for a quick agreement with Europe’s finance ministers in Brussels were dashed on Monday. The euro also gained versus the yen and Swiss franc as demand for haven currencies eased.
