Hydro-Quebec to Buy Power From Pattern’s 147-Megawatt Wind Farm

Hydro-Quebec, the province-owned electric utility, agreed to buy power from a 147-megawatt wind farm owned by Pattern Energy Group LP under a 25-year agreement.

Pattern will sell power from the Mont Sainte-Marguerite facility 50 kilometers (30 miles) south of Quebec City. The closely-held company acquired full ownership of the wind farm from Renewable Energy Systems Ltd. upon signing of the Hydro-Quebec contract, Matt Dallas, a spokesman for Pattern, said in an interview. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.

Construction is set to begin in the third quarter of 2016, with power delivery starting in December 2017, the San Francisco-based company said in a statement Friday. The project consists of 46 3.2-megawatt Siemens AG wind turbines.
