Harvard, MIT Sued Over Captioning for Deaf in Online Courses

Updated on

Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology discriminated against deaf students by failing to provide closed captions in their online courses, an advocacy group claims in lawsuits filed Thursday.

The National Association of the Deaf accused the schools of violating the Americans With Disabilities Act in the complaints filed in federal court in Springfield, Massachusetts. The group is seeking court orders requiring the schools to provide compliant captioning for Internet content.
