Fox Extends U.S. Rights to Soccer World Cup Through 2026 Event

Fox will retain the English language rights to soccer’s World Cup in the U.S. through the end of the 2026 version of sport’s most-watched event.

Fox will be able to broadcast the tournament as well as the women’s event and other versions of the sport, such as beach soccer, FIFA said today in an e-mailed statement. NBCUniversal will retain the Spanish language rights.

“These agreements guarantee wide distribution for FIFA tournaments across the U.S. and Canada,” FIFA Director of TV Niclas Ericson said. “Together, we will be able to further promote football in North America and build on the impressive interest shown by audiences in these major territories during the 2014 FIFA World Cup.”
