Four Players Fined by NFL for Fight at End of Super Bowl

Four players were fined by the National Football League for a brawl in the closing seconds of the Super Bowl.

Two players each from the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks were fined for the fight in the end zone just before the conclusion of New England’s 28-24 victory.

The NFL said in an e-mail yesterday that New England tight end Rob Gronkowski was fined $8,268 for unnecessarily striking an opponent and fellow Patriots tight end Michael Hoomanawanui was fined the same amount for ripping off an opponent’s helmet.

Seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin, who was ejected from the game, was fined $10,000 and defensive end Michael Bennett was fined $8,268, both for unnecessarily striking an opponent.
