Chad Sends Troops to Cameroon to Widen War Against Islamists

Updated on

Chad will deploy troops in neighboring Cameroon to help the country fight Boko Haram militants, broadening the fight against the Islamist insurgents who have killed thousands of people in Nigeria.

The central African nation will deploy troops and equipment to help Cameroonian forces fighting the rebels in the north of the country, Chadian government spokesman Hassan Sylla Bakari said in a statement read on state radio in the capital, N’Djamena. He also urged other countries in the 10-nation Economic Community of Central African States to support them.
