Sony to Release ‘Freedom Edition’ DVD of ‘The Interview’

Sony Pictures will release a “Freedom Edition” DVD of “The Interview,” with 90 minutes of outtakes and gags from the film following the disruption of its theatrical run by a cyber-attack.

The release, available on Feb. 17, will contain 14 deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes featurettes and a 7-minute blooper reel, the Culver City, California-based studio said today in a statement.

Sony executives are piling more humor into the home-video release to maximize home-video sales for the Seth Rogen film, which pokes fun at North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The FBI has tied North Korea to the cyber-attack, which crippled the Sony Corp. unit’s computers and exposed thousands of documents.
