Samsung C&T Corp.’s Canadian unit and Pattern Energy Group Inc. have begun selling power from an array of 67 Siemens AG wind turbines in southern Ontario.
The 150-megawatt Grand Renewable Wind project in Haldimand County, Ontario, is selling power to Ontario’s provincially owned Independent Electricity System Operator under a 20-year agreement, Pattern said today in a statement. The IESO merged with the Ontario Power Authority at the start of the year.
The project can power about 50,000 Ontario homes a year, San Francisco-based Pattern said. Ten percent of the project is owned by the aboriginal community Six Nations of Grand River.
