An outpouring of solidarity spread from workplaces to social media to candlelight vigils across Europe after gunmen killed top editorial cartoonists at Charlie Hebdo, a satirical weekly magazine in Paris.

#JeSuisCharlie rose to one of the top trends on Twitter, along with #ParisShooting, Charlie Hebdo, and Trafalgar Square, where thousands of people rallied in London as night fell following the massacre.
