Florida State Football Coach Fisher Signs New 8-Year Contract

Florida State University football coach Jimbo Fisher, whose Seminoles have 29 consecutive victories including the 2013 national title, is getting a new eight-year contract that will keep him in Tallahassee through 2022.

FSU plays Oregon in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1 in one of the national semifinals as it seeks a second straight championship.

FSU officials said in a statement that the deal includes “an increase in salary that will make him one of college football’s highest-paid coaches,” without giving details. ESPN said Fisher was getting $4.2 million a year in his current deal.
