Consumers Gain Confidence as U.S. Job Market Firms: Economy

American consumers are more confident than at any time since the last recession began as a strengthening labor market helps the biggest part of the economy heal.

The Bloomberg Consumer Comfort Index climbed to 41.7 in the period ended Dec. 14, the highest reading since mid-November 2007, according to data issued today. Other reports showed fewer workers are being dismissed from their jobs and the economic outlook continues to brighten.
