BYD Stumped by Stock’s Record Slump in Hong Kong

BYD Co., the electric carmaker backed by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc., tumbled by a record in Hong Kong trading, prompting the company to say that it’s puzzled by the rout.

BYD slumped 29 percent to HK$25.05 at the 4 p.m. close and the trading volume on the stock surged to more than 40 times the past year’s daily average. The company’s Shenzhen, China-traded shares dropped by the 10 percent daily limit.
