Vodafone Gets Loan From Canada Agency for BlackBerry Gear

Vodafone Group Plc is receiving $750 million of funding from Canada’s export financing agency to help it purchase BlackBerry Ltd. products.

Export Development Canada didn’t disclose the terms. EDC spokesman Phil Taylor said by telephone from Ottawa that Vodafone will get another $100 million from the lender to boost orders for smaller Canadian suppliers.

Canada has set up similar arrangements this year with other major telecommunications companies. India’s Reliance Industries Ltd. received $500 million in April to fund the purchase of telecommunications and energy equipment, and EDC provided more than 180 million euros in September for Madrid-based Telefonica SA.
