European Soccer Groups Propose Holding 2022 World Cup in May

Europe’s soccer clubs and leagues proposed holding the 2022 World Cup in May.

FIFA, the global governing body, is considering moving the event from summer to January or November to avoid the heat in host country Qatar.

The European Club Association and the European Professional Football Leagues said today in an e-mailed statement they back running the tournament from May 5 to June 4 to avoid the busy European winter season and to have the least impact on the international soccer calendar.
