Former Sanofi CEO Viehbacher Says Kickback Allegations Baseless

Former Sanofi Chief Executive Officer Chris Viehbacher said a whistle-blower’s allegations that the company illegally paid $34 million in kickbacks to boost use of its drugs are “entirely baseless.”

In a suit filed in state court in Newark, New Jersey, former Sanofi employee Diane Ponte said Viehbacher was among those at Sanofi who engaged in a scheme to pay doctors, hospitals and pharmacies to induce them to switch to Sanofi’s diabetes medicines.
