Voith Buys 25 Percent of Robot-Maker Kuka to Increase Automation

Voith GmbH, among the biggest family-owned businesses in Europe, acquired 25 percent of robotmaker Kuka AG to take advantage of the trend toward increased industrial automation.

Voith is acquiring the stake from Grenzebach GmbH & Co. KG, Heidenheim, Germany-based Voith and Kuka said in separate statements. The shareholding was valued at about 555 million euros ($683 million), based on yesterday’s closing share price, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
