Janus Says Soros’s Quantum Puts $500 Million With Gross

Updated on

Bill Gross, the bond manager who joined Janus Capital Group Inc. in September, won a $500 million mandate from a vehicle managed by George Soros’s investment firm.

Quantum Partners LP, a private vehicle managed by Soros Fund Management LLC, invested in a separate account with a strategy similar to Gross’s Janus Global Unconstrained Bond Fund, according to a posting on Denver-based Janus’s website. Scott Bessent, Soros’s chief investment officer, visited Gross in Newport Beach the week after he joined Janus, according to a person familiar with the matter who asked not to be identified because the conversation was private.
