Internships Aren’t Helping College Students Enough

Internships, for all their documented flaws, are important to landing a job. Research has shown that getting an internship—especially in fields such as finance, consulting, and tech—can mean the difference between a job interview and a résumé landing in the reject pile. Beyond being almost essential to improving a graduate’s career odds, internships don’t do much for interns, a new report finds.
