BNDES Approves $164 Million in Loans for Brazil Wind

Brazil’s development bank approved 422.3 million reais ($164.4 million) in loans for two wind farms in the northeast region.

The Morro dos Ventos II and the Chapada do Piaui II projects in Rio Grande do Norte state have a total capacity of 201.57 megawatts, Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Economico e Social said in a filling today.

The larger loan, 338 million reais, is for the 172.4-megawatt Chapada project, owned by a group that includes Cia. Hidro Eletrica do Sao Francisco (known as Chesf), ContourGlobal LP and Casa dos Ventos Energias Renovaveis SA. The 29.17-megawatt Morro facility, owned by Desa Dobreve Energia SA, will get 84.3 million reais.
