MLB Dodgers Make Zaidi General Manager, Also Hire Josh Byrnes

Farhan Zaidi will move from the Oakland Athletics to the Los Angeles Dodgers to become general manager of the Major League Baseball team.

The Dodgers also announced last night in a news release that they had hired Josh Byrnes as senior vice president of baseball operations. The moves come three weeks after the Dodgers made Andrew Friedman their president of baseball operations.

Zaidi, 37, who has economics degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of California, Berkeley, spent the last 10 seasons with the Athletics, most recently as assistant general manager.

Byrnes, 44, was general manager for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2005-10 and the San Diego Padres from 2011 until this past June.
