Namibia Poachers Kill First Rhino in Etosha Reserve, Sun Reports

Poachers killed and dehorned a black rhino in Namibia’s Etosha National Park, in the first known attack on the endangered animals in the country’s main game reserve, the Namibian Sun reported, citing Environment and Tourism Minister Uahekua Herunga.

Park officials discovered the carcass of the black rhino on Oct. 28, in the southwest of the park, the Windhoek-based newspaper cited Herunga as saying. Investigations are under way and no arrests have been made.

Poachers have killed 15 rhinos and 43 elephants so far this year in the country.
