Top-Ranked Djokovic Joins Top Five Father’s Club

Top-ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic and his wife Jelena have had a baby boy.

“We are delighted to announce that Jelena Djokovic gave birth to a wonderful, healthy and a lovely boy, called Stefan,” Djokovic said in a statement on his website today. “The birth went in the best possible manner, baby and the mother feel well.”

The baby was born yesterday in Nice, France, the ATP World Tour said on its website. It is the first child for Serbia’s Djokovic and his wife, who married the week after he won his second Wimbledon title in July.

Djokovic, 27, is the third player in the current top five of the men’s ATP World Tour to become a father. Men’s Grand Slam record holder Roger Federer has two sets of twins, while Australian Open champion and fellow Swiss player Stan Wawrinka has a daughter.

Djokovic said he’ll spend several days with his family before traveling to Paris to play in next week’s BNP Paribas Masters event. He’s already qualified for the ATP World Tour Finals next month in London.
