Shark Fears Lead to Closure of Durban Beaches: Business Day

Many beaches near South Africa’s southeastern port of Durban have been closed because of concern of possible shark attacks after storms damaged shark nets, Business Day reported, citing Ethekwini municipality.

Some of the beaches will remain closed until the end of November so that the nets can be repaired, the Johannesburg-based newspaper said.

Currently only Umhlanga, Amanzimtoti and Winkelspruit beaches remain open, the newspaper said, citing Themba Ngcobo, head of parks and recreation for the municipality.

Before it's here, it's on the Bloomberg Terminal.
