Pitt’s ‘Fury’ War Movie Captures Box Office This Weekend

Sony Corp.’s “Fury,” the World War II drama starring Brad Pitt, led the weekend box office with $23.5 million in ticket sales, drawing a mostly male audience.

“Gone Girl,” the returning thriller from 21st Century Fox Inc., fell to second place with $17.8 million in sales in its third weekend of release, Rentrak Corp. said yesterday in an e-mailed statement. “The Book of Life,” an animated film set in a Mexican Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, festival, came in third, collecting $17 million in its debut.
