TD Hires Scotiabank’s Andrews for U.S. Equity Sales

Toronto-Dominion Bank hired Tim Andrews and four others from Bank of Nova Scotia to lead a new U.S.-based sales team for its equity-derivatives business.

Andrews will join in January as a managing director for TD Securities in New York, the Toronto-based firm said today in an e-mailed statement. Chris Obalde and Mark Quaglia were hired as directors, while Alexandra Nino was added as vice president and Joe Hemmes as an associate, according to the statement.

“This new team, which brings with them a wealth of regional market knowledge and long-standing client relationship experience, will drive our growth strategy forward in the U.S.,” Alison Ford, a TD Securities spokeswoman, said in the statement.

All five worked for Scotiabank’s structured products and equity-derivative sales business in the U.S., which was headed by Andrews.

Myra Reisler, a spokeswoman for Toronto-based Scotiabank, declined to comment.
