Geno Smith’s first pass of the game was intercepted and returned for a touchdown as the New York Jets lost 27-19 at home last night to the Chicago Bears.
Ryan Mundy returned the interception 45 yards for that score and the Bears took advantage of a fumbled punt to make it 14-0 five minutes into the National Football League’s Monday night game.
The Jets (1-2) pulled within 17-13 at halftime, but never were able to catch the Bears (2-1), who stopped New York on a final drive that got within the Chicago 10.
Smith ended up 26-of-43 for 316 yards, with a touchdown and two interceptions. Jay Cutler was 23-of-38 for 225 yards for the Bears, with two touchdown passes.
