Andy Murray Backs Scottish Independence, Guardian Reports

British top-ranked tennis player Andy Murray backed the campaign for Scottish independence, the Guardian said.

The former Wimbledon and U.S. Open champion’s remarks on the Twitter social media site backed the move to break away from the United Kingdom, the newspaper said.

“No campaign negativity last few days totally swayed my view on it,” Murray’s Twitter post said. “Excited to see the outcome. Lets do this.”

Murray doesn’t live in Scotland, and so can’t vote in today’s referendum.
