Jackie Chan’s Son Formally Arrested on Drug Charges in Beijing

Chinese prosecutors formally arrested the son of Hong Kong movie star Jackie Chan on suspicion that he allowed people to use drugs at his apartment, paving a way for formal charges and a trial.

Jaycee Chan, 32, has been in police detention since the middle of August and faces as many as three years in prison if convicted. Police will keep investigating the case, the Supreme People’s Prosecutor Office said on its official microblog today.

An actor and singer like his father, Jaycee Chan was detained in Beijing amid the country’s biggest crackdown on drug use in 20 years, the official Xinhua News Agency said at the time. He tested positive for marijuana and police seized more than 100 grams of the drug from his home, according to Xinhua.
